Good book, although dated.

Fast Algorithms for Digital Signal Processing does cover DSP techniques (primarily FFT and convolution). It also has a few chapters covering the mathematical background of these algorithms, which is helpful to the beginner. There isn't any code, although algorithms are described in flowcharts and pseudo-code... It's a good book, but has the drawback that it's old and doesn't cover newer techniques (parallel algorithms).
